Estate Planning

Tailored legal solutions that complement and facilitate your personal and financial goals

Dixon Advisory Law’s team of lawyers and experts can help you plan the distribution of your estate with their specialist knowledge of taxation, superannuation and succession law.

The expertise of our estate planning lawyers is augmented by a team of specialist financial, taxation and succession consultants. This allows our lawyers to develop tailored estate plans that achieve your desired distribution of wealth in the most tax effective and asset protective manner.

How Dixon Advisory Law can help plan your estate

We can help you develop practical estate plans to:

  • allow your beneficiaries to legally reduce or altogether eliminate tax on income generated from their inheritance every year after receiving their inheritance
  • protect your beneficiaries’ inheritance in the event of divorce or bankruptcy
  • minimise or avoid death benefits tax (which can be as high as 31.5%) when distributing your superannuation benefits
  • guard against undue waste and dissipation due to spendthrift tendencies, age, mental health, drug addictions, gambling or other vulnerabilities of a beneficiary
  • achieve potentially significant capital gains tax savings on assets distributed through your estate
  • ensure that if your surviving spouse remarries, your assets pass to your preferred beneficiaries and not to a new partner
  • ensure that your assets don’t pass to an in-law or former spouse but to your intended beneficiaries.

Drafting your legal documents

Whether your affairs are straightforward or complex, Dixon Advisory Law can draft your estate planning documentation including Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Binding Death Benefit Nominations to transfer your wealth with minimum taxation liability and maximum asset protection.

Seeking estate planning advice from Dixon Advisory Law

You can obtain estate planning advice from Dixon Advisory Law with a 30 minute estate planning appointment or a comprehensive estate planning strategy consultation.

Estate planning appointments

With a 30 minute estate planning appointment, one of our estate planning specialist lawyers will sit down with you to discuss the various aspects of estate planning and establish your individual needs and objectives.

At the end of your 30 minute estate planning appointment, we will either:

  • offer you an analysis of the documents and provisions you need to achieve your objectives and provide you with a fee agreement setting out a quote for engaging our team to do the work and prepare your estate planning documents; or
  • recommend that you schedule an estate planning strategy consultation.

If you do not wish to proceed with either drafting the recommended documents or a further estate planning strategy consultation, there is no fee for your appointment.

Estate planning strategy consultations

If you require a comprehensive analysis of your estate planning options, or if your family circumstances are more complicated, then you can arrange an estate planning strategy consultation.

Our estate planning strategy consultation is a fee based appointment that provides you with a detailed estate plan setting out your options and recommended strategy.

We will provide you with a fee agreement setting out a quote for engaging our team to do the work and prepare your estate planning documents in accordance with the recommended strategy.

If you do not wish to proceed with the recommended estate plan, there is no further fee.
